I am an experienced Computer Scientist AI developer VR researcher

Carlos Marañes

Computer Scientist

Since I was a kid I have had a strong interest in computers. I discovered the power of computer animating with Adobe Flash Player (now abandoned, sadly) at a very young age, which served as a stepping stone to introduce me to the world of videogames, which is now one of my main hobbies. At that point I had something clear: I wanted to raise computation to its maximum exponent.

To move in that direction, I did my bachelor's degree in computer science, where my knowledge ranged from hardware to understanding complex machine learning models. Then, I expanded my skills in computer science pursuing a master's program in robotics, graphics, and computer vision. Afterward, my interest in machine learning led me to the decision of going abroad for half a year as an exchange student at the University of Freiburg, Germany. There I took computer science courses that involved implementing and testing state-of-the-art deep learning architectures and also automating the design of machine learning models.

However, before starting my master's studies I spent a year working as a researcher in the Graphics and Imaging Lab group at the University of Zaragoza, under the supervision of Ana Serrano and Diego Gutierrez. During this time I published two papers! Additionally, during my bachelor's I did an internship in a tech company in software development which thought me how to work as a team and improve my skills in the handling of databases and developing back-end architectures.

But not everything that I do is computer-related, I also enjoy playing my alto saxophone in the local music band, just as Lisa Simpson does.
